My name is Titus Chicco Ntaagena and I am born on the 10th of March 2005. I was born in the Rhino Park Hospital which is situated in Windhoek. I grew up without a father because he died when I was 5. Then I stayed with my mother and twin brother. I started my school at Mandume Primary School in Katutura. Now I am at Dawid Bezuidenhaut High School in grade 8B. My twin brother did not really stay at Mandume Primary School because he got very sick that he never went to school. My mother tried to take him to church, hospitals and we even took him to South Africa but nothing helped.
A program called Basketball Artists School (BAS) came to my school to select grade 4 learners. I was one of these learners so they took us to Katutura Sports Complex and they showed us some basketball moves. We started to go there every day and we were also given food. At the last stage of the try-outs we had to write a short exam in maths and English and on the next day we got the results. Only 22 learners where chosen to be part of BAS and I was one of them.
When I went to the program my life started changing step by step. Most of all my school marks. They improved a lot and I also got the chance to be part of the Namibian Nation Team. I made it to the team after we won the regional championship. Last year we were travelling to Botswana, Gabrone to play the Youth Games there. It was the first time I was traveling out of Namibia. I am very thankful for the BAS that they gave me this chance.
